Local Conservation Officers received calls from a number of families in Shawnigan Lake after seeing a family of bears in the area.
Sargeant Scott Norris says the bears were reported in the area of Ingot Road, north of Shawnigan Beach Estates. Norris reminds the public of the importance of not feeding the bears and keeping garbage out of reach, otherwise bears will learn to associate food with houses and people.
Norris says sometimes, they are often found from the same place they had to be removed from. He adds they are working on capturing the bears for relocation.
