Homeless population on the Coast have an outreach worker

The number of people who used a winter shelter on the Sunshine Coast between in the past season nearly doubled.

Cayce Laviolette, with the Sunshine Coast Homelessness Advisory Council says there are more than 100 homeless people in the region……

 

He says, one of the most common complaints he hears from the people he works with is the difficulty of finding an affordable place to rent.

He says some people are choosing to live in tents or in their cars as an alternative.

The Council has made their case to B.C. Housing and now, for the first time, a part time homelessness outreach worker will be funded for on the Sunshine Coast.
