Schools get grants for literacy

Since the inception of the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation in 2004, more than $23 million has been handed out to more than 2,600 schools, benefiting more than 750,000 Canadian children.
This year, two of the 25 school recipients are in our listening area.
They are the Fairview Community School in Nanaimo and the Khowhemun Elementary School in Duncan.
Alana Skene is the librarian at Khowhemun which got a grant of 45,000 dollars over a three year period….

Skene says the money they are getting can be used for books, including audio books, i-pads, Coby readers and anything else the outlet sells.
