Co-ops collect for the United Way

Until the end of June, change from the coin boxes at Mid Island Co-op’s Gas Stations will be giving a boost to vulnerable children, isolated seniors and low-income families in our community.
The money from the coin boxes placed at Mid Island Co-op’s in Ladysmith, Nanaimo, Gabriola, Parksville, Whiskey Creek, Chemainus, Lake Cowichan and Salt Spring Island will be donated to United Way Central and Northern Vancouver Island will be given to the United Way.
This year, United Way is investing in 35 programs and projects in the Central Island region.
Those projects include a place for children at risk to go after school to play sports, make crafts and receive a healthy meal, a Nanaimo seniors’ visiting program and programs that assists low-income families to improve their finances, health and personal security.
