Large swath of Strait closed to shellfish harvesting

Large portions of the Strait of Georgia have been closed to the harvest of bivalve molluscs.
DFO’s Elysha Gordon, the Canadian Shellfish Sanitation Program Coordinator says biotoxin monitoring shows unusually high levels of PSP toxins….
Gordon says this closure should be taken very seriously.
Those affected by PSP usually experience tingling or numbness around lips five to 30 minutes after ingestion and medical attention should be sought immediately.
