It was a busy Saturday morning for RCMP

Around 9:30 police were called to a report of a fight between a couple of women in the hallway of an apartment building in the 3300 block of Rock City Road.

Police had reason to believe a firearm may be involved.

Officers with the Vancouver Island Emergency Response Team and an RCMP Air Services helicopter, who were involved in an unrelated matter in the area, attended to assist with the incident.

To ensure public safety, the apartment units nearby in the building were evacuated and contact was made with a 23 year old man who was arrested along with a 46 year old woman.

The pair were arrested for assault, uttering threats and firearms related offences.

Police did find a rifle and located the two victims from the original report in a nearby unit and both are cooperating with police.

A second call for police came in around 10:40 from a woman who reported she had been assaulted by a man at her home on Benson View Road.

The 40 year old woman suffered minor injuries and a 57 year old man was arrested for assault and firearm related offences.

While in the home officers located several firearms and a suspected illegal marijuana grow operation.
