Community Services Society turns to social media fundraising to help woman

The Sunshine Coast Community Services Society is using “kickstarter” social media fundraising to help a woman fleeing an abusive relationship.

The Society says the woman and her children were in extreme danger when they came to the area.  Since then she’s won a legal fight to get sole custody, but there was a hefty bill.

Keely Halward is the director for “Together Against Violence Services” at the Society. She says they’re hoping to raise 55-hundred dollars to clear that bill, and they’ve already got 600 after the first day.

Halward says watching the progress of the campaign is also sure to give strength and courage to the woman and others.

You can find the campaign page on fundrazr.com
