Sailings cancelled after passenger dies on Queen of Oak Bay, police say not suspicious

West Vancouver Police and the BC Coroner’s service are investigating a sudden death on board a BC Ferry. West Vancouver Police and the BC Ambulance Service were called to the Horseshoe Bay terminal just after 7:00am Thursday after a man was found unconscious on the upper vehicle deck of a sailing bound for Nanaimo. The ferry turned around and returned to Horseshoe Bay. Constable Jeff Palmer speaks for West Van Police.

There is no indication that the death was suspicious and the ferry has returned to service.

The incident has led to cancellations on the route between Horseshoe Bay and Nanaimo. The Queen of Oak Bay has cancelled the 10:30am sailing from Horseshoe Bay and the 12:30pm sailing from Departure Bay.
