Transit returning to the Coast?

BC transit says there was a spending freeze on transit up until the February budget. And now that it’s over, they’ve been talking with the Sunshine Coast Regional District about a possible expansion of services.

The province has committed $12.7 million for three years for transit expansion within the province.

Drew Snider, Media Relations Advisor for BC transit says there’s a catch – because of that, they need to do an internal evaluation.

The future transit plan has been in place since 2014 will have a variety of expansion options. The SCRD recently approved a three year option that could begin in 2017.

The first year, the plan would involve increasing route 90, the express between Langdale and Sechelt to half hourly services, during peak times.
