Sunshine coast bear advice

Sunshine Coasters can expect to see more bears now, as they awake from hibernation.
Dean Miller, a Conservation Officer in Sechelt says we do live in a community filled with bears, and people should be cautious.
Miller says, towards the end of May, they’re going to hire a Wild Safety BC coordinator to help people out with bear problems on their property, among other duties.
He did however, have some advice on how to avoid bear problems.
Miller says people should also consider freezing any meat products they buy, to tone down the smell that attracts the bears.
