Nanaimo RCMP say wallet mystery solved, elderly couple gets their cash back

Nanaimo RCMP say there’s a happy ending to the story of the lost wallet full of cash.

After hearing the reports this week a 90 year old Nanaimo woman and her 83 year old husband have come forward to claim the wallet found at the Columbia Bakery.

RCMP say they couple feared the cash was lost forever.  They tried to remember where they’d been when it went missing, but didn’t think about their stop for coffee at the bakery around Christmas until hearing police were looking for the owner of a wallet left in the lost and found box .

“We are so pleased to have been able to assist this lovely couple. They are both pensioners and have worked hard for every penny they have earned. Losing that amount of cash was troubling to say the least, and lead to many sleepless nights, “says Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

O’Brien says the couple have asked their identities be kept confidential, but they would like to thank the employees of the Columbia Bakery and local media for covering the story.
