Forestry protest moves to SCRD offices

A number of people gathered in front of the SCRD building for a protest yesterday afternoon.
They are worried about logging and road building on the Chapman Creek watershed.
They eventually made their way into the SCRD board meeting, where they asked Chair Garry Nohr to talk with AJB investments to stop the current logging while they negoiate.
Ross Muirhead is part of Elphinstone Logging Focus group and he says he was satisfied with how the meeting turned out.
Nohr says the District does not support logging in any community watershed.
But, the current logging activity residents are taking issue with is taking place on private land and is in compliance with provincial legislation.
