The first of two community meetings about the Boat Harbour Marina in Yellowpoint goes tonight (Thurs).
The meeting starts at 7 at the Cedar Community Hall and is hosted by community members.
Another meeting, scheduled at the Hall for the 21st will be hosted by the Nanaimo Regional District.
District director, Alec McPherson says there has been a lot of concern from the community about a proposed development at the privately owned water lot and the issue is a complicated one…..
Members of the community say the developer has gotten the green light to fill in a portion of the harbour and they are shocked the application has gotten as far as it has.
McPherson says part of the problem is the property is a privately held water lot that pre-dates the Regional District so there is some confusion as to what kind of authority the District has in this case.
