BC Ferries sailing cut survey ends Friday

The deadline is nearing for the BC Ferries online survey on service cuts; it closes Friday.

The company’s trying to find out if people would rather go with their option for dropping sailings, or the cuts the Ministry of Transportation announced back in November.

Sunshine Coast Ferry Advisory Committee Chair Barry Cavens is urging people to participate, especially on routes like Langdale – Horseshoe Bay, where the FAC heard the Ministry’s idea for a cut could hurt workers and sports teams.  Cavens says it’s important to know if the alternative comes close to addressing the concerns.

But the BC Ferry Coalition is seeing the survey as another chance to send a message opposition the cuts.  Chair Jef Keighley says they’re asking people to use the comments section to make a statement.

Once the results are in Ferries is going to meet with the Advisory Committees and local stakeholders before finalizing the reduced schedules at the end of March.
