Nanaimo RCMP say they have a 40 year oldĀ prolific offender behind bars and $7000 in stolen kitchen appliances has been recovered and returned to its owner.

In this case, police say it appears Shawn Jason Wheldon was operating an overdue 5 tonĀ U-Haul truck with a variety of items inside including a small quantity of illegal drugs.

Wheldon was also linked to a storage locker where police found a number of stolen items that had been taken from a business break and enter back on the 22nd.

After entering aĀ plea of guilty to the Break and Enter and Possession of Stolen Property, Wheldon was sentenced toĀ 16 months jail time.

Police say prolific offenders account for an overwhelming amount of crimes and when one is taken off the street there can be an immediate and significant impact on crimes in a community.
