BC Hydro seeks to hike rates

BC Hydro has filed an interim rate application to increase rates by four per cent for fiscal 2017, effective on April 1st.

The company says this works out to about four dollars per customer a month.

Jessica McDonald, president and CEO of BC Hydro, says the rate hike is still consistent with the BC Government’s 10-Year Rates Plan.

That plan capped increases at four per cent for fiscal 2017, 3.5 per cent for fiscal 2018 and three per cent for fiscal 2019.

The BC Utilities Commission will then determine the rate increases for the final five years of the plan.
