It recently came to the attention of the Sunshine Coast MLA that children suffering from a mental health crisis at emergency rooms in BC were being told to go to a drop in centre for help.
Nicolas Simons says there had been some kind of policy change at the Ministry for Children and Family Development.
Previously, Simons says a child and youth mental health worker would be called to the emergency department to help.
Simons says he wrote a letter to the Ministry about the issue…..
He says everyone he spoke to within the government agreed the change in policy was unacceptable.
