The Barry Penner review and recommendations of the draft dock management plan for Pender Harbour were released last week and the details of it are sinking in now.
Leonard Lee the chair of the Pender Harbour Dock Management Working Group says there were 13 recommendations in the document……
5 of the recommendations dealt with environmental or archeological issues, 2 were on policy issues with regards to access and Lee says the group will likely take no exception to those.
Two recommendations suggested the community learn more about dock management and First Nations issues.
But the other 4 were the ones that really matter to the local landowners and deal with issues like dock tenures.
Lee says the Working Group will be meeting in short order to get a consensus on what the recommendations really mean before they request a meeting with the province.
He hopes that happens within the next week or so.
