Family Day fun

The City of Nanaimo is offering up some family focused events this long weekend.

The fourth annual Family Play Day will be held on Sunday from 9:30 to 12:30 at Oliver Woods Community Centre.

The activities will feature a Super Hero theme and include a super hero training centre, gym games and activities for kids of all ages.

Families are encouraged to dress up as their favourite super hero.

Then, on Family Day, the Nanaimo Ice Centre and Nanaimo Aquatic Centre will be open for special skating and swimming events, all other City facilities will be closed for the holiday.

Many civic facilities will offer free activities on Family Day on the Sunshine Coast as well.

At the Gibsons and Area Community Centre there is no admission from 10 to 4.

There s 2 for one drop in hockey from noon to 1:30 for those 13 years old and older and a free public skate from 1:45 to 3:15.

At the Gibsons and District Aquatic facility there is a free public swim from 3:30 to 5:30.

There is also a free public swim at the Pender Harbour Aquatic and Fitness Centre from 1 to 4.

And there’s free admission to the Sechelt Aquatic Centre from noon to 4.
