An alarmed storage container was enough to deter late night thieves from making off with a local contractor’s tools this week in Nanaimo.
RCMP Constable Gary O’brien says the trailer, used by a contractor was broken into but the contractor had installed an alarm system that paid off….
The contractor, Chris Mitchell says in 2012 he had his storage container broken into and thieves made off with 5 thousand dollars worth of tools.
He installed the alarm system and since then there’s been an attempted break-in to his trailer 4 more times…..
Both he and police are suggesting to contractors installing alarms on construction trailers would be a good way to go to prevent similar thefts.
