Malcolmson heads to Ottawa

Nanaimo-Ladysmith MP Shiela Malcolmson will be in Ottawa today as parliament resumes.
She says she’s looking forward to learning if this region can play a special role in the inquiry into murdered and missing indigenous women, especially given the work VIU’s Centre for Pre-Confederation Treaties and Reconciliation has been doing.
Malcolmson is also planning to table the derelict vessel bill within the next month and she hopes some partnerships can be formed to get the bill passed.
For it’s part, the Liberal government is expected to release a budget in March, a climate change plan in April, and it’s seeking to change Canada’s first-past-the-post voting system before the next election.
