A 33 year old man was arrested on the weekend after Nanaimo RCMP, with help from the Vancouver Island Emergency Response Team, searched a home in the 1000 block of Haliburton Street.
Police found a replica Glock handgun and a small amount of marijuana, cocaine and heroin in the house.
The search of the home was initiated after police learned the suspect may have been involved in an assault late last month which resulted in significant injuries to a woman.
Because police believed the suspect was in possession of a handgun and had a potential for violence the ERT assisted in the arrest.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident and a 43 year old woman, also in the house, was released without any charges.
