The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that it will hear an appeal from the BC Teachers Federation.
Mike Ball, President of the Nanaimo District Teachers’ Association, says they want a reversal of the province’s decision to strip teachers of their bargaining rights around class size and composition.
Louise Herle, President of the Sunshine Coast Teachers’ Association, says it’s an issue that’s been going on since 2002. She says the Supreme Court’s decision to hear the appeal is very good news.
Meanwhile, the province has released a statement saying they are confident in their legal position, but appreciate the democratic process.
