Controversial school testing goes this week

It is that time of year when select BC students participate in the Foundation Skills Assessment tests.
Permission slips were sent home for parents to sign but the BC Teachers Federation is urging parents to opt out of the testing.
John Blain, the superintendant of School District 68 says the results are used to examine reading comprehension, writing and math skills among students and a while back the Fraser Institute started using the test results…..
Teachers say the tests do not help students learn and they don’t help teachers teach either.
The average provincial participation rate for Grade 4 and 7 students combined is 85 per cent, according to Ministry of Education data from the past five years.
