SD68 Board Chair apologizes for rude gesture

The Chair of the Nanaimo-Ladysmith School Board is apologizing, after he was caught on camera making a rude gesture.

Pictures are circulating on social media of Steve Rae giving the finger, while at a local bar.

The incident allegedly occured after a run-in between Rae and some parents, upset over the board’s decision to close a school in Nanaimo.

In a statement, Rae says he was enjoying a personal night out when the public part of his job crossed over into his personal life.

Rae claims he was not the first to act inappropriately, but says that does not excuse his actions and he’s deeply remorseful.
