Two men were taken to hospital early Sunday morning after a fight broke out between two groups of men at the Cactus Club Cafe in north Nanaimo.
Police got numerous 9-1-1 calls about a fight in the parking lot just before 1:30am. When police arrived, the two groups were separated. Some people involved in the fight had already left, but two men at the scene were treated by paramedics.
Both men suffered head injuries but are expected to make full recoveries. One of the men was airlifted to Victoria General Hospital for treatment.
“No charges have been laid in the matter, however the investigation is well under way,” says Constable Gary O’Brien. “Investigators are currently attempting to identify all those involved by interviewing staff of the Cactus Club, customers who were present and by reviewing video surveillance.”
