The pharmacy at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital is going to be renovated and expanded at a cost of $2.5 million dollars.
David Leadbetter is Island Health’s Director Smart Technology and Special Projects.
Leadbetter says that means pills and doses will be packaged individually and labelled with a bar code. He says the ultimate goal is to eliminate medication errors and make the system more sterile and streamlined.
Construction is expected to start in January.
