The City of Parksville and Vancouver Island University are coming together to protect the Mt. Arrowsmith Biosphere Reserve.
Mayor Chris Burger says there are only 2 UNESCO designated Biosphere Reserves in BC; and this one’s right on their doorstep
Burger says partnering with VIU will encourage research and understanding of the Reserve and, more importantly, help Parksville shape its future growth in a way that’s sustainable and respects the area’s unique biodiversity.
BC’s other UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is also on the Island; in Clayoquot Sound.
