Defeated Conservative Weston offers final thoughts on campaign

Outgoing West Vancouver Sunshine Coast MP John Weston says he’s naturally disappointed in Monday’s results, but he’s confident the Conservative Party can bounce back.

Weston was one of several Conservative incumbents who lost their seats in BC, as the Liberals swept to a majority win.

He says Conservatives are ready to embrace fresh leadership, but at the same time he’s hoping the party will stick with the policy ideas it followed in government.

Weston says he’s already met with MP-elect, Pam Goldsmith Jones of the Liberals, and he’s hoping to be able to take an unusual step to help her serve constituents.

Weston says he’ll be asking permission to turn over his riding office files, which are typically shredded when there’s a change of party.
