Nanaimo RCMP looking for potential witness to jewellery store heist

Nanaimo RCMP say charges have now been laid against two men arrested after and armed robbery at the Woodgrove Centre on October 8th.

28 year-old Jonathon Grant Javier and 27 year-old Justin James Dodd are being held in custody.

They’re accused of bursting into Michael Hill Jewelers, armed with a gun, and smashing display cases before speeding off in a waiting car.

The men were arrested later that night in Ladysmith, and now face charges that include: Robbery with a Firearm, Uttering Threats, Dangerous Driving, and Failing to stop for police.

RCMP say they’re now hoping to speak to a man who was nearby when the robbery happened and may have been taking pictures or shooting video.

“Officers would like to speak with the person seen taking these pictures. This may assist with the investigation and potentially be a key piece of evidence”, says Constable Gary O’Brien.

O’Brien says all police know about the man is that he’s white and elderly.

If anyone has information about the robbery or the man seen taking pictures, they should call Constable Tanaska Armstrong of the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
