Oceanside RCMP are hoping to hear from the person who gave a stabbing victim a ride early Thursday morning.
Police and ambulance crews were called to a home on Corfield Street in Parksville just after 2:30 this morning, about an hour after the victim was attacked.
He’s not saying much to investigators, but the 34 year old man was walking along Corfield around 1:30 when two men in their late 20s or early 30s came towards him. At some point they got into a fight. The victim was punched in the face and stabbed in the back.
He went out to the highway, flagged down a passing truck and got a ride to a Shell station, where he called a taxi to take him home. It was after all that when he got in touch with RCMP.
He was taken to hospital with a collapsed lung, and he’s expected to make a full recovery.
RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman says the victim is known to police. He also says they’re keen to hear from the man who was driving the older model red pick-up who gave the victim that ride to the Shell.
