Sechelt hoping to see Davis Bay Wharf project done by summer

It’s not quite shovels in the ground, but Councillors in Sechelt are staying on track to have the Davis Bay Wharf restored by the summer.

The District heard last month it was getting money from the Island Coastal Economic Trust.

Last night Council found out the fundraising effort, being headed up by the Wharf Rats Committee is about 182 thousand short of its goal.  They’re still hoping to get 150 of that from the Community Forest Legacy Fund.

But, Mayor John Henderson says those numbers are good enough to “light the fuse”, by going out for bids on the work.

Once completed the 600-thousand dollar project will see the iconic wharf not only fully restored, but expanded with a float for docking boats and a gazebo.
