City lays out the rules ahead of potential protest against Colliery Dams project

Anyone planning to protest up at the Colliery Dams is being encourage to read what the City has posted on the Colliery Dams Information webpage.

Rod Davidson with the City of Nanaimo says they put together a list of Frequently Asked Questions, after hearing from people who needed more information.


Davidson doing so could be a criminal offense, and could lead to an arrest. He says they hope people will follow the rules while protesting on public property.

Construction on an auxiliary spillway is expected to start September 1st.

A group of residents, known as the Dams Direct Action Group, is planning some sort of civil disobedience, but they’re not tipping their hands.  They say a meeting is planned for August 28th to talk strategy.
