Sunshine Coast RCMP are warning to businesses and the public to be on the lookout for fake American money, after counterfeit currency showed up in the same Sechelt business three times this month.
RCMP say the suspects tried to pay with counterfeit $50 US bills three times between January 20 and 29. It may have happened more often, but only one of the bills was seized by the business.
The RCMP are telling businesses to seize any counterfeit currency if it’s safe, and report all suspected counterfeit money to police. Anyone with information on the suspects or incidents should contact the Sunshine Coast RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
