Momentum is building for the creation of a Community Land Trust on the Sunshine Coast.
The Regional District, Gibsons and Sechelt have all approved re-directing some money, so their Housing Committee coordinator can work on setting up the Trust.
That coordinator, Matt Thomson, explained the idea to Sechelt Council recently.
The Housing Committee’s mandate expires at the end of the year, and Thomson says the goal is to have the Trust operating by then.
He also says an existing group, Coast Housing, is interested in having the Trust take over the 23 units it has in Sechelt.
