Large crowd for Target Marine Public Hearing
Sechelt’s Target Marine wants to expand from caviar and sturgeon to other fish products and even plants.
A public hearing on the re-zoning it needs to do that drew a big crowd to Sechelt Municipal Hall Wednesday night.
Speakers were about 2 to 1 in favour.
Many were Target employees. Representatives of the business community, including the Chamber of Commerce and the Coast Community Builders Association, also came out to back the application
Those opposed to the re-zoning raised issues like noise, expansion of industrial activity near a residential area, and impact on property values.
With the public hearing done, Council could vote on adopting the bylaws for the Porpoise Bay property as early as next week.
