Nanaimo's Kanata Conversation draws national audience
Nanaimo’s efforts at reconciliation with First Nations were in the national spotlight Wednesday night.
More than 300 people were at the Shaw Auditorium, and hundreds more participated via webcast in the Kanata Conversation organized by Vancouver Island University, the City of Nanaimo and the Snuneymuxw First Nation.
It even started trending on Twitter under #Kanata2014
It was the latest in a series of events in response to community outcry over a racist letter to the editor printed in a local paper, and the focus was on the media.
