Facing a $5.6 million deficit next year, the Nanaimo Ladysmith School District has some tough decisions to make. The Board will have a look at amending the 2013/14 budget during their meeting tonight. Secretary-Treasurer Phil Turin says they’re looking to roll some surplus money over to next year to help close the gap.
Turin says that will give them around $2.5 million dollars to put towards next year’s operating budget, but even with that money, they’ll still be $3.1 million in the hole. He says they going to make some other big adjustments down the road to compensate.
