Sechelt FN backing Greenpeace opposition to Shell’s plans for Arctic exploration

The Sechelt First Nation is backing Greenpeace in opposition to Shell’s plans for exploration in the Arctic.

The company has been moving equipment up to Alaska through the Inside Passage.

In a video posted on the Greenpeace Facebook page over the weekend, Sechelt First Nation Chief Calvin Craigan says Shell should be banned drilling in the Arctic.

A kayak protest was held off shore from Sechelt Saturday night as one of Shell’s spill-containment vessels, the Arctic Challenger, moved up the coast.

A representative of the Sechelt Nation was on the Greenpeace ship Esperanza, which recently returned from Haida Gwaii.
