Nanaimo moves to Level 1 water restrictions Monday

People on the City of Nanaimo water system will be under Level 1 restrictions starting tomorrow (June 1st).

The City says even with this year’s record low snow packs they haven’t needed to go to Level 1 any earlier than usual.

Level 1 means even/odd day watering rules, and it normally goes until September 30th, however the City is monitoring water levels and will be ready to move to Level 2 quickly if needed.

“Nanaimo residents can be proud of the fact that they have practised decades of water conservation which ensures that during periods of drought the water system is resilient enough to avoid more drastic measures,” says Bill Sims the Manager of Water Resources Engineering & Public Works.
