Nanaimo man sentenced to 1 year in jail for multiple break-ins

A Nanaimo man has been sentenced to a year in jail for a number of break and enters in the Labieux Rd area.

Constable Gary O’Brien says 31-year-old Timothy Dafoe was arrested on May 14. The thefts happened between May 3 and May 12.

O’Brien says it’s an important reminder to make sure your home is secure.

He says Dafoe only stole jewelry, and most of it was recovered when police searched his home in the 2000 block of Labieux Rd.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old Parksville man has been sentenced to two months in jail after a string of thefts from vehicles in the Oceanside area.

The man pleaded guilty to 2 counts of Failing to Comply with a Probation Order and 1 count of Theft Under $5000.

Because of his prior involvement with police and the courts, the man was sentenced to 60 days in jail and one year of probation.
