HIPPY Program in Nanaimo raising money to help more families

The coordinator of Nanaimo’s HIPPY Program says they’re trying to raise money to make it available to more families.

Swedini Halliday says the program, run by the Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society, helps teach kids basic skills so they’re ready to start school.

Halliday says the problem is that they don’t have funding to provide the program to kids of Canadian-born mothers.

She says they’re in the midst of a fundraising campaign. You can find more information on their website.
