BC Ferries apologizes for Sunday sailing SNAFUs

BC Ferries is apologizing for mechanical problems and heavy traffic that led to a lot of frustration for ferry travellers Sunday…

The Queen of Surrey was running well over an hour behind schedule by early Sunday evening.

Deborah Marshall of BC Ferries says it was a combination of high traffic volume and slow turn-arounds in Horseshoe Bay.

Some of that “berth congestion” was because of delays on the the Nanaimo – Horseshoe Bay route.

And the situation got worse when a problem with the propeller system knocked the Queen of Oak Bay out of service

Marshall says the repairs were completed overnight, and the Oak Bay was back on the route for its regular sailings on Monday.
