Nanaimo RCMP say a recent arrest is a good reminder about the importance of protecting your personal identification.
Constable Gary O’Brien says a 21 year man is facing a host of charges after he was nabbed by police on Monday.
He was caught after someone reported a theft from a parked car at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
O’Brien says Nanaimo RCMP have linked the suspect to other crimes in the area, and they expect to lay up to 15 more charges.
Sunshine Coast RCMP, meanwhile, are reporting a similar incident.

They say a woman had a wallet with bank and identification cards taken from her unlocked vehicle at the Langdale ferry terminal.
She told police she’d only left the vehicle unattended for 15 minutes.
