South Downtown Waterfront Committee wants to play ongoing role

Nanaimo Councillors are getting the final report of the South Downtown Waterfront Committee on Monday, and they’ll hear from the Chair, who says they shouldn’t be disbanded.

The Committee has been working on recommendations on how the City should approach future development of the Wellcox Railyard.  The City bought the property last March.

In a letter to Council the Committee argues it should have an ongoing role in advising the City on what happens on the property, and that issues may come up down the road that Council might want to “run by the Committee”  for input and advice.
