Vancouver Coastal Health says a Healthy Communities Collaboration Agreement will go a long way toward making the Sunshine Coast a better place to live.
Gibsons, Sechelt and the Sunshine Coast Regional District have now signed off on the agreement.
It sets out a few priorities they’ll work on with VCH in the coming years.
Medical Health Officer, Dr. Paul Martiquet, says one of the most important is “stonger smoke-free policies at parks and recreation facilities”.
Martiquet says the agreement also outlines things people might not connect with health, like neighbourhood planning. But, he says research shows the so-called “built environment” has a real impact on people’s health outcomes.
