The Nanaimo Chapter of the Sierra Club is hosting an event today to highlight how communities can tackle the issue of climate change together.
Larissa Stendie is Sierra Club BC‘s Energy and Climate Campaigner. She says it’s part of a provincial tour called “The Future is Here”.
People from the area who already rely on renewable energy, and work in sustainable industries like organic farming, have been invited to set up a displays.
Stendie says they’ll be showing an award-winning documentary called “The Future of Energy: Lateral Power to the People”.
Stendie says there will be a discussion after the film featuring local panelists.

The event runs from 12:30pm to 5:00 pm at Beban Park Social Centre and admission is free.
