Sunshine Coast RCMP say April incidents highlight special units

Sunshine Coast RCMP are using a busy start to April to highlight the help they get from the force’s specialized units.

So far this month the Emergency Response Team, the Marine Section, the dive team, a dog team, Forensic Identification Services and the Air 8 helicopter have all been at work on the Sunshine Coast

Constable Harrison Mohr says their expertise benefits the community, and working with them is valuable experience for local officers.

In the case of the Marine Section, timing was everything. They were in the area for the sinking of the HCMS Annapolis artificial reef, and the next day helped arrest a pair of suspects in Salmon Inlet.

The Sunshine Coast Detachment is part of the RCMP Lower Mainland District and has access to multiple support units should we need them, says Staff Sergeant Vishal Mathura. Whatever resources are needed, we will find a way to get them and help the communities we serve.
