Widdifield case ends in 5 year sentence

A man police gang experts say was the founder of Nanaimo’s Hells Angels chapter is heading to jail for 5 years…

Robert Widdifield was arrested in 2010 along with three others on charges of extortion and theft, but he Crown had to launch a second trial after the original case was thrown out because of delays.

He was sentenced in Nanaimo Supreme Court yesterday.  He also has to pay $120-thousand in restitution, and will be prohibited from owning firearms for life.

Widdifield’s prosecution is the latest in several cases involving the Nanaimo Hells Angels, who are still appealing the 2007 seizure of their Victoria Road club house under the Civil Forfeiture Act.
