New initiatives rolling out on Sunshine Coast under "A GP for Me"

The doctors in the Sunshine Coast Division of Family Practice are working on some new initiatives to connect people with family physicians, and help them find their way through the health care system.

It’s part of the GP for Me program.

Dr. Jane Bishop says grants have come through to bring in a nurse to run an “Attachment and Assessment Clinic”, where people needing a doctor can go to get matched up.

Bishop also says they’ve hired a patient navigator.

Bishop says the two programs will also provide valuable data to local doctors.

Bishop says although appointments won’t start until later this month, they’re already taking bookings for the Attachment and Assessment Clinic at 604-885-8644.  People can contact the patient navigator at 604-741-3180, or if you have a doctor they can refer you to the navigator.
